Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 then the angels all prostrated themselves together. 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
