At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
