So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
