When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
