The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to Allah Who has revealed to His servant the Book devoid of all crookedness; 1 right, to warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings unto the believers, who do righteous deeds, that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 Wherein they shall remain for ever: 3 And that it may warn those who say: God hath taken a son. 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is the word that comes out of their mouths [i.e. He begot (took) sons and daughters]. They utter nothing but a lie. 5 Thou wouldst only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message. 6 We have made whatever exists on the earth its adornment to test and try them (and) know who acts better; 7 And verily We are going to make whatsoever is thereon a soil bare. 8 Do you think that the Men of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
