So they departed. When they boarded a ship, he bored a hole in it. 'What, have you made a hole in it' he said, 'is it to drown its passengers? You have done a dreadful thing' 71 He said: Did I not tell thee that thou couldst not bear with me? 72 (Moses) said: Be not wroth with me that I forgot, and be not hard upon me for my fault. 73 The two went on till they came to a boy, whom he killed. Moses exclaimed: "You have killed an innocent soul who had taken no life. You have done a most abominable thing!" 74 ۞ Said he, 'Did I not say that thou couldst never bear with me patiently?' 75 Moses said: "Keep me no more in your company if I question you concerning anything after this. You will then be fully justified." 76 Then they proceeded: until, when they came to the inhabitants of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused them hospitality. They found there a wall on the point of falling down, but he set it up straight. (Moses) said: "If thou hadst wished, surely thou couldst have exacted some recompense for it!" 77 He answered, "This is where you and I must part company. But first I will tell you the meaning of the things you could not bear with patiently. 78 As for the ship, it belonged to certain poor men, who toiled upon the sea; and I desired to damage it, for behind them there was a king who was seizing every ship by brutal force. 79 As for the youth, his parents were believers and we feared that he would trouble them by rebellion and denial of truth. 80 and we desired that their Lord should grant them another in his place, a son more upright and more tender hearted. 81 As for that wall, it belonged to two orphan boys of the city, and their treasure was buried under it. Their father was an upright man. So your Lord willed that on reaching the age of maturity they should dig out their treasure as a favour from their Lord. So, I did not do that of my own accord. This is the explanation of things you could not bear with patience." 82
