They will question thee concerning Dhool Karnain. Say: 'I will recite to you a mention of him. 83 Surely We established him in the land and granted him means of access to every thing. 84 With these he traveled 85 Until when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he perceived it setting in a miry spring, and he found beside it a nation. We said: Zul Qarnian! either chastise them or take in respect of them the way of kindness. 86 He said, "As for one who wrongs, we will punish him. Then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a terrible punishment. 87 But he who believes and does the right will have an excellent reward, and we shall make things easy for him." 88 Then he set out on another expedition 89 until he came to the rising-place of the sun, where he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no shelter from it. 90 Even so! and We had a full knowledge of what he had. 91 He travelled 92 Until, when he came between two mountains, he found before them a nation that did not appear to understand any speech. 93 They said: O Zulqarnain! surely Gog and Magog make mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute on condition that you should raise a barrier between us and them 94 He replied: 'That which my Lord has given me is better, therefore help me with all your power, and I will build a barrier between you and between them. 95 Give me pieces of iron - till, when he had levelled up (the gap) between the cliffs, he said: Blow! - till, when he had made it a fire, he said: Bring me molten copper to pour thereon. 96 Thereafter they could neither scale it, nor could they pierce it. 97 Dhu l-Qarnayn said, "This barrier is a blessing from my Lord but when His promise comes to pass He will level it to the ground; His promise always comes true." 98 ۞ And on that day we shall let some of them surge against others, and the Trumpet will be blown. Then We shall gather them together in one gathering. 99 And We will present Hell that Day to the Disbelievers, on display - 100 whose eyes had become blind against My admonition and who were utterly disinclined to hear it. 101
