They will ask you about ThulKarnain (the pious and chosen). Say: 'I will recite to you something of his story. 83 We had given him great power in the land and all kinds of resources. 84 He journeyed on a way 85 until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of murky water and near it he found some people. We said, "Dhu'l-Qarnayn! You can either punish them or else you can treat them with gentleness." 86 He replied, "I shall punish the unjust ones among them and then they will return to their Lord, who will punish them more sternly". 87 "But whoever believes, and works righteousness,- he shall have a goodly reward, and easy will be his task as We order it by our Command." 88 Then he followed another way, 89 Until, when he came to the rising place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We (Allah) had provided no shelter against the sun. 90 Thus indeed it was. We had full knowledge of him. 91 Then he set out on another expedition 92 until he came between two mountains. He found beside them a people who could scarcely understand a word [of his language]. 93 They said: "O thou Two-Horned One! Behold, Gog and Magog" are spoiling this land. May we, then, pay unto thee a tribute on the understanding that thou wilt erect a barrier between us and them?" 94 He said, “That which my Lord has given me control over is better, therefore help me with strength – I shall set up a barrier between you and them.” 95 Bring me ingots of iron' After he had leveled between the two cliffs, he said: 'Blow' And when he made it a fire, he said: 'Bring me molten copper so that I may pour over it' 96 Thus they were not able to mount it, nor were they able to burrow through it. 97 He said: "This is a mercy from my Lord: But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it into dust; and the promise of my Lord is true." 98 ۞ And on that day We shall release them in groups surging like waves one after another, and the Trumpet will be blown – so We shall gather them all together. (* Gog and Magog will come out during the time of Eisa (Jesus – when he comes back to earth) and cause great destruction in the land.) 99 We will fully expose the view of hell on that Day to the disbelievers, 100 who have turned a blind eye to My reminder and a deaf ear to My warning. 101
