Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet. 41 Remember, when he said to his father: "O my father, why do you worship that which can neither hear nor see nor even profit you the least? 42 Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path. 43 O My father! worship not the Satan; verily the Satan hath been unto the Compassionate a rebel. 44 O my father! I dread lest a chastisement from the Most Gracious befall thee, and then thou wilt become [aware of having been] close unto Satan!" 45 His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again". 46 Abraham said: "Peace be on thee: I will pray to my Lord for thy forgiveness: for He is to me Most Gracious. 47 I will leave you and those you invoke apart from God, and pray to my Lord. Haply in praying to my Lord I will not be deprived." 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 And We bestowed on them of Our mercy, and We made for them a renown lofty. 50
