He said: my Lord! expand for me my breast. 25 “And make my task easy for me.” 26 Loosen the knot in my tongue, 27 That they may understand my saying. 28 "And appoint for me a helper from my family, 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 "Add to my strength through him, 31 And share my task, 32 That we may sing Your praises much, 33 and remember You abundantly. 34 Surely You know us well." 35 The Lord said, "Moses, your request is granted. 36 Already another time We favoured thee, 37 Recall, when We indicated to your mother through inspiration: 38 'Put him in a wooden box and cast it in the river. The river will cast it on the bank. An enemy of Ours, and his, will retrieve it.' We bestowed Our love on you that you may be reared under Our eyes. 39 [And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses. 40 I have chosen you for Me. 41 "Go forth, [then,] thou and thy brother, with My messages, and never tire of remembering Me: 42 Go ye twain unto Fir'awn, verily he hath waxen exorbitant, 43 But speak gently to him; perhaps he may yet take heed or even feel afraid." 44 Both said: O our Lord! Surely we fear that he may hasten to do evil to us or that he may become inordinate. 45 He said: "Have no fear. I am with you, hearing and seeing all. 46 "So go ye both to him, and say, 'Verily we are messengers sent by thy Lord: Send forth, therefore, the Children of Israel with us, and afflict them not: with a Sign, indeed, have we come from thy Lord! and peace to all who follow guidance! 47 for, behold, it has been revealed to us that [in the life to come] suffering shall befall all who give the lie to the truth and turn away [from it]!"' 48 (Pharaoh) said: Who then is the Lord of you twain, O Moses? 49 He said, "Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided [it]." 50 (Pharaoh) said: "What then is the condition of previous generations?" 51 Moses said, "My Lord alone has knowledge of that, recorded in a Book. My Lord neither errs nor forgets." 52 Who has made earth for you like a bed (spread out); and has opened roads (ways and paths etc.) for you therein; and has sent down water (rain) from the sky. And We have brought forth with it various kinds of vegetation. 53 So eat yourself and pasture your cattle. Surely there are many Signs in this for people of understanding. 54
