The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Draws near for mankind their reckoning, while they turn away in heedlessness. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 He said: My Lord knows what is spoken in the heaven and the earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? 6 The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this -- 7 nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal; 8 We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
