۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They answered: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He answered: "Nay, but your [true] Sustainer is the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth - He who has brought them into being: and I am one of those who bear witness to this [truth]!" 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 So they turned towards their own selves and (inwardly) said, “Indeed you yourselves are unjust.” 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
