1/2 Hizb 33

۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 So he smashed them up to pieces with the exception of the biggest, so that they may turn to it. 58 [When they saw what had happened,] they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Verily, one of the worst wrongdoers is he!" 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 (So Abraham) said: "Then why do you worship something apart from God that cannot profit you or do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 And We saved him and Lot [and brought them] to a land which We had blessed for all people, 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
