The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ TRULY, to a happy state shall attain the believers: 1 those who are humble in their prayer; 2 those who turn away from all that is frivolous; 3 And who are givers of poor-rate, 4 and restrain their carnal desires 5 Except before their mates or those whom their right hands possess, for they surely are not blameable, 6 But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors - 7 (Prosperous are those) who preserve their trusts and pledges 8 and who observe their prayers. 9 These are the real gainers, 10 who will inherit Paradise; they shall live there for ever. 11 We created man from the finest extract of clay, 12 which was then turned into a living germ and placed in safe depository. 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 Then verily, thereafter, ye are sure to die. 15 and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up. 16 And certainly We made above you seven heavens; and never are We heedless of creation. 17 And We send down water from the skies in accordance with a measure [set by Us,] and then We cause it to lodge in the earth: but, behold, We are most certainly able to withdraw this [blessing]! 18 With it, We produced for you gardens of palms and vines, yielding abundant fruit for you to eat. 19 And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters. 20 In the cattle, too, is a lesson for you. We let you drink of that which is in their bellies, and there are many benefits in them for you, and you eat of them, 21 and upon them and on the ships you are carried. 22
