And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is only a man who invents lies against God, so have no faith in him". 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 The blast justly struck them and We reduced them to rubble. Away with such wicked people! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
