And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 He said: O my Lord! help me against their calling me a liar. 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No people can hasten their term, nor can they delay (it). 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 Then they accused them of lies, and joined the company of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
