Messengers! Partake of the things that are clean, and act righteously. I know well all that you do. 51 And verily! This your religion (of Islamic Monotheism) is one religion, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me. 52 Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord, 57 And those who believe in the communications of their Lord, 58 And those who do not associate (aught) with their Lord, 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing, 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 [and,] impelled by your arrogance, you would talk senselessly far into the night." 67 Do they not ponder over the Word (of Allah), or has anything (new) come to them that did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
