And (remember) when your Lord called Musa (Moses) (saying): "Go to the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing), 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 He said, 'My Lord, I fear they will cry me lies, 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me. 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 And go, both of you, unto Pharaoh and say, 'Behold, we bear a message from the Sustainer of all the worlds: 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. 20 I fled from you because I feared you. But my Lord has given me judgment and made me one of the Messengers. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 Then he uncovered his hand and it was sheer white to the onlookers. 33
