۞ By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued." 52 Then Pharaoh sent heralds to the cities (to mobilise troops) 53 saying: "These (Israelites) are only a small band of people 54 They are always harassing us. 55 "But we are a multitude amply fore-warned." 56 As such We expelled them from their gardens and their fountains, 57 their treasures and a noble station. 58 Thus it was; and We made the children of Israel possess them. 59 And so [the Egyptians] caught up with them at sunrise; 60 When the two forces drew within seeing distance of each other, the people of Moses said: "We shall certainly be overtaken." 61 He said: Nay, verily! for lo! my Lord is with me. He will guide me. 62 Then We revealed unto Musa, saying: smite thou the sea with thy staff. So it became separated, and each part was like unto a cliff mighty. 63 And We caused the pursuers to draw near unto that place: 64 And We saved Moses and those with him, all together. 65 Then We drowned the others. 66 Indeed in this is surely a sign, and most of them were not Muslims. 67 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 68
