Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 no caring friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
