And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
