And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
