Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
