And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
