And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
