And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
