And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
