And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
