And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
