And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
