And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
