The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
