'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
