Ad gave the lie to the apostles. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them.
