(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
