[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to [one of God's] message-hearers 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: fear ye not? 142 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 "Do you think that you will remain here peacefully forever 146 "In gardens and springs. 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly; 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 do not obey the bidding of those who are given to excesses, 151 Who corrupt the land and do not reform it." 152 They said: "You are only of those bewitched! 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 Replied he: "This she-camel shall have a share of water, and you shall have a share of water, on the days appointed [therefor]; 155 and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and then they became regretful: 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 Your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
