The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 Why do you go for males unlike all other creatures 165 Leaving the consorts your Lord has made for you? But you are a people who exceed the bounds." 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 My Lord! deliver me and my followers from what they do. 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 Then We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
