[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 and [in all your dealings] weigh with a true balance, 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said, “You are under a magic spell.” 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 "Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!" 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 They rejected him and then the torment of the gloomy day struck them. It was certainly a great torment. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
