The people of Aykah also gave the lie to the Messengers. 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 178 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 190 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 191
