The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 Let a part of the sky fall on us if what you say is true". 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
