The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 What time Shu'aib said unto them: fear ye not? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 Drop down on us lumps from heaven, if you are one of the truthful' 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Surely, in this is indeed a sign; but most of them would not believe: 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
