This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
