Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our punishment? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 By way of admonition, and We have never been oppressors. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do. 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Observest thou not, that they wander about every vale. 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
