Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 nor does it behove them, nor does it lie in their power. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And that they say what they do not do. 226 Except those who believe, and do good works and remember Allah in abundance and became victorious after they had been wronged. The wrongdoers will surely know which turn they will be returning to (Hell). 227
