The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
