Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ta-Sin-Mim [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings] 1 These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) clear. 2 We narrate unto thee (somewhat) of the story of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for folk who believe. 3 Indeed Pharaoh transgressed in the land and divided its people into sections. One group of them he humiliated, and slew their sons and spared their daughters. Truly he was among the mischief-makers. 4 We wanted to bestow favour on those who were oppressed in the land. We wanted to make them leaders and heirs 5 and to establish them in the land; and to show Pharaoh and Haman, and their armies, the very thing they dreaded. 6 We inspired Moses' mother saying, "Suckle him, and then, when you fear for him, cast him into the river, and have no fear and do not grieve, for We shall return him to you, and shall make him one of the Messengers." 7 Then the people of Pharaoh picked him up (from the river): (It was intended) that (Moses) should be to them an adversary and a cause of sorrow: for Pharaoh and Haman and (all) their hosts were men of sin. 8 The Pharaoh's wife said, "He, (Moses), is the delight of our eyes. Do not kill him. Perhaps he will benefit us or we may adopt him." They were unaware of the future. 9 And the heart of the mother of Musa (Moses) became empty [from every thought, except the thought of Musa (Moses)]. She was very near to disclose his (case, i.e. the child is her son), had We not strengthened her heart (with Faith), so that she might remain as one of the believers. 10 And she said unto his sister: follow him. So she watched him from afar; and they perceived not. 11 ۞ And We had already forbidden the breasts of the nurses for the child. (So seeing the girl) said: "Shall I direct you to the people of a household that will rear him with utter sincerity?" 12 So We restored him to his mother that she might be comforted and not grieve, and that she might know that the promise of Allah is true.
