Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs - 34 that they might eat of its fruits. It was not their hands that made them. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. 36 And a sign unto them is the night. We draw off the day therefrom, and lo! they are darkened. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night surpass the day; and each one of them floats in its orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved 43 unless it be a mercy from us, and as an enjoyment for a season. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are quarrelling with one another. 49 They will have no time to make a will, nor shall they return to their own people. 50
