By those who range themselves in rows; 1 and restraining [from evil] by a call to restraint, 2 and the reciters of a Remembrance, 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, and the Sustainer of all the points of sunrise! 5 We have adorned the lowest heaven with the beauty of the planets; 6 And to guard against every rebellious devil. 7 They cannot listen to the speech of those on higher elevations and they are targeted from every side. 8 Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. 9 Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame. 10 Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay. 11 You marvel (at the wondrous creations of Allah) and they scoff at it, 12 When they are reminded, they do not remember. 13 And when they behold a sign, they turn to scoffing. 14 and say: "This is clearly nothing but [a mortal's] spellbinding eloquence! 15 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised (again)? 16 What, and our forefathers, the ancients' 17 Say: 'Yes, but worthless' 18 It will be but one Shout, then see, they are watching 19 And say: "Ah woe! This is the Day of Reckoning." 20 This is the day of the judgment which you called a lie. 21
