۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
