۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
